As many dot-coms and Wall Street analysts have realized, it takes more than a snazzy web site or good idea to make an e-commerce venture a success. Entrepreneurs who want to establish their e-businesses in the marketplace, as well as intrapreneurs who want to increase their companies' marketshare, now have the opportunity to obtain a graduate certificate in e-commerce at Stevens Institute of Technology.
This stand-alone, four-course program, may be completed in less than one year with earned credits applicable to a full master's degree in Stevens' Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management. The program is taught in a fixed sequence to ensure that knowledge is applied from one class to the next. Additionally, students in the program have the opportunity to build relationships with fellow career-minded intra/entrepreneurial students and to utilize the vast networking and industry relationships available through Stevens.
Topics covered, in order, include:
The Wesley J. Howe School of Technology Management at Stevens has been delivering management programs on campus and at select corporate locations in technology management for more than 10 years. Instrumental in developing these programs with Stevens are leading-edge organizations such as Lucent Technologies, AT&T, Exxon, AlliedSignal, and Picatinny Arsenal.
The Graduate School at Stevens currently has about 2,500 full- and part-time students, many of whom are managers and executives in their respective companies. The e-commerce graduate certificate is offered weeknights and Saturdays at the Stevens campus in Hoboken, just minutes from New York City and easily accessible by the PATH train and other means of mass transit. Classes for the spring 2001 semester begin Jan. 16, but spaces are limited, so prospective students are encouraged to enroll right away.
Interested participants may attend Stevens' Graduate School Open House Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the 4th floor Bissinger Room, Wesley J. Howe Center at Stevens (about one block east of 8th Street and Castle Point Terrace, in Hoboken, N.J.). Stevens will also hold a Graduate School Advising and Registration Forum on Thursday, Jan. 11, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., also in the Bissinger Room.
