HOBOKEN, N.J. ― During the CUFE graduate ceremony held recently in Beijing , 18 Stevens Institute of Technology students earned advanced degrees from the university's award-winning program.
With February’s graduation, nearly 200 students have either earned Stevens' degrees or are presently enrolled at the university's programs in China . An additional six students from the China program will graduate at Stevens’ Hoboken , N.J. commencement ceremony in May.
“This year’s ceremony was very impressive and the students have extremely positive feelings toward the program and Stevens ,” said Maureen Weatherall, Vice President for University Enrollment and Administration at Stevens. Weatherall participated in the ceremony in Beijing , conferring diplomas to the graduates. “We are excited and proud that our alumni base in Beijing continues to grow.”
Graduate Pan Lin spoke at the ceremony, thanking both Stevens and CUFE faculty and staff for making the program possible. She stated: “For the past year and a half, we have deeply experienced the high-quality education and the joyful environment from this master’s project. I hope more and more Chinese students can benefit from this international program in the future.”
CUFE is the nation's key financial services school and Stevens’ program there offers graduate degrees in Project Management. Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), one of China ’s top engineering schools and Stevens’ other partner school in China , confers master's degrees in Photonics and Microelectronics and Telecommunications Management.
Stevens' China Program – management and technical degrees delivered in collaboration with top universities in China – has been named "most outstanding online teaching and learning program" by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the nation’s most vigorous philanthropic supporter of online and blended learning.
One-third of the courses are delivered in Beijing by Stevens faculty. Another third are taught online from Hoboken by Stevens faculty and a final third are presented in Beijing by Stevens’ partner school faculty. All courses are presented in English.
