WebCampus sets new record with 42% rise in enrollment

Stevens’ online learning unit enrollment nears 5,000, with tuition close to $12 million

HOBOKEN , N.J. ― WebCampus, Stevens Institute of Technology’s online learning unit, has reported a record-breaking rise in enrollment, as nearly 5,000 students have registered for classes, with revenue close to $12 million for the current academic year. This is a 42% increase over last year, and the steepest since WebCampus was launched in 2000. The growth is reflected in enrollments in 17 online master’s degrees and 39 online graduate certificates in science, technology, and management.

“These numbers exceeded our most optimistic projections,” said WebCampus Director Robert Zotti. “Approximately 40% of our online enrollments now originate well beyond commuting distance – particularly in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, California, Florida and Texas.”

Marking its spectacular growth two years ago, WebCampus celebrated its 10,000 th enrollment with campus-wide festivities. It took six years to reach that goal, yet WebCampus has now added another 8,000 students in just two years, a prime example of its recent rapid growth.

Zotti also noted that WebCampus had another great year in awards and recognitions. The unit received its second 21 st Century Award in Online Learning Best Practices prize from the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA). WebCampus has also received the top Sloan award from the Sloan Foundation, the Best Online University award.

Since WebCampus first went online, the unit has enrolled more than 18,000 students, with more than $38 million in revenue.
