Stevens Professor Levin serves as editor of Dorothy Wordsworth

Publication is the first to present selections from Dorothy Wordsworth’s major writings in a single volume

HOBOKEN , N.J. – Susan Levin, a Professor in Stevens Institute of Technology’s College of Arts and Letters, has edited Dorothy Wordsworth, in Longman's Cultural Editions series. Levin is an internationally acclaimed expert on this author and this publication is the first to present the writings of Dorothy Wordsworth in a single volume, representing all the genres that attracted her pen: poetry, journals, travelogues, letters, tales and narratives. Through Levin’s editing and commentary, Wordsworth emerges as a journalist, poet, traveler, social activist and crucial presence in the Wordsworth household.

This Longman Cultural Edition provides not only a record of Dorothy Wordsworth’s writings but also texts of the world that generated them. The world of Grasmere and its writing community are conveyed by selections such as those from De Quincey on incest, Hannah Glasse on making mutton, a spy from the Home Office on “a sett of violent democrats,” and a country farmer on “the pernicious and destructive consequences of enclosing common fields.”
